Youth - God Leading Our Way (GLOW) @ ASC
GLOW @ ASC, the youth group of April Sound Church, is a dynamic gathering of young people ages 11-18. The concept of GLOW is based on John 8:12. The group is led by Stefanee O’Hagan and Logan Schurr. Logan was raised in April Sound Church and has experienced the fellowship of The Sound youth group.
The focus is on bringing the word of God to teens through a channel they can relate to….each other! We have an innovative and exciting new bible-based curriculum that challenges students to draw closer to God. Through scripture study, fellowship, food and FUN they get together weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00p.m. They just wrapped up a series called “Sincerely, God” which helped students relate to the bible as a love letter, a guide and an invitation that is meant to be lived and not just read.
The group has enjoyed many fun activities this year, including a unicorn battle, confetti cannon relay, kickball, and many games of “Hide & Seek Tag”- a group favorite! Now that summer is upon us, they will be venturing out to the open air (and more fun) to bring God’s word to life. Some of the upcoming events will be a parent’s brunch, Mother/Son Adventure Challenge, Dad/Daughter Dinner Date, and summer camp. During the summer the youth meet at different church member’s pools for poolside bible study and swimming. Teens supporting teens, communicating through shared experiences and caring, build them up for challenges in the future.
GLOW @ ASC also holds a devotional breakfast at 10 AM on Sunday mornings, prior to the contemporary 11 AM service. The youth help out in the services by sharing the offertory scriptures and taking part in seasonal programs. This year, the teens served at the Children’s Valentine breakfast, and helped with the Women in God’s Service (WinGS) Ladies “Holy Makeover” Retreat at the end of April. The youth sponsor an annual Chili cook-off and garage sale to raise funds for summer camp and other events. Stefanee and Logan are always looking for ways to get the students more involved within the church and the community.
